Lapidarium – archeological exhibition, Montana

Lapidarium – archeological exhibition is a place where stones are sorted by archaeological importance - the statues, stone plate with epigraphs, architectural details such as columns, friezes and pinnacles. Archaeological exposition Lapidarium, is located in the beautiful park of Popska garden near the church "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" and just a few minutes away from Mihailova House. Archaeological exhibition includes fifty six monuments found in the town and the region. Almost invisible inscriptions on the monuments can be seen, are the only sources for the plates and most of the information of the history of the town and the culture of the people, who had lived in these lands. Some of the inscriptions testify to the beliefs of the local people in Diana, considered to be a goddess and patroness of the town, of Apollo and many other deities. Some plates attest to the Roman emperors ruled ever, for rulers of Lower Moesia and the region, as well as for the armors and deeds of various military serving and even common people.

Monuments have been declared cultural and historical values and in the period of their discovery and various scientific expedition had been led on them, in order to clarify the origin and the information written on them.
